Traditional software is too manual. I’m so over filling out forms over and over again in different apps. Even with autofill.
Agents can offload our manual work: tabbing between apps/pages, looking up information, copy + pasting that information. We can get back to doing meaningful work without traditional UI getting in the way.
An agent can read your emails, open up other apps to get the data needed, and then respond in your writing style.
I’m excited about the shape of this new agentic software. Honestly, it could just be a to-do list. The agent plans the task out, creates a checklist, cites the work as it completes them, and then asks me to approve critical decisions. This way I have a history of the work. And I don’t need to fill out any forms!
The game-changer for agents is memory. It remembers you not only in a single app, but across apps. Your personality, your working style, writing style, your design style. It’s an extension of you. In digital form.
My bet is that apps won’t exist anymore. As in, logging into different apps to get your work done. Maybe all of our work exists in a single canvas where we pull in pieces from different apps. Getting the information you need when you need it will be the core differentiator of great products. Hyper-personalization over design systems. APIs will become ubiquitous.
Software, like good design, will become invisible.
