Document, don't create.
But still generate quality content.

I’ve posted 80 times on LinkedIn since 2024.
Each one of those posts was crafted: I would think of a concept, come up with a banger title, flesh out the words, and post on Tuesday morning.
But that takes time. As much I talk about taking action over being perfect, I still get caught up over-analyzing my ideas and making sure that each post is flawless.
I read a post recently by Gary Vaynerchuk that said “Document, don’t create”:
"‘Documenting’ versus ‘creating’ is what the Kardashians is to Star Wars. Just because you’re ‘documenting’ doesn’t mean you’re not creating content. It’s just a version of creating that is predicated more on practicality instead of [thought leadership]."
I don’t want to be a thought leader. I want to be me. And I love geeking out about software design.
The past two years is the most fun I’ve had being a designer, because I can bring my ideas to life as working software. So I’m going to post more about the process of building than theory.
Agentic UX is still the destination. And LinkedIn is how I document my journey there.
I’m going to post at least 100 times before the end of the year. The number isn’t as important and building the muscle to share the process.
Meta: this is the start of documenting my documentation.

P.S. I love vanity metrics: views, likes, comments. And this has been my biggest hurdle to just posting. Going forward, I’ll ‘post and ghost’. But I still want to start conversations with other builders.
P.P.S. “Document, don’t create” is adjacent to the concepts of “The Creativity Faucet” (your first ideas are crap), and “Show Your Work.” Time to revisit those ideas.
